VCR 10 (FPS 02) (Abruzzo)
PLANT: From east Tuscany, where it makes
Montepulciano de Abruzzo. Viogorous and
productive. Medium clusters, semi-compact,
cylindrical-conical, often winged. Medium
berries, black-violet. Adapted to climates warm
and dry to regulate maturation.
WINE: Intense ruby-red; fruity, tannic, good
body, velvety; not acidic. Often used in
Tuscany to boost the color and body of
Angiovese. Wine of the year in Italy for 2000.
